With the advance in contact lenses designs, many people can now benefit from using contact lenses as an alternative to spectacles. There are many different options when it comes to contact lenses, ask your optometrist to see if you are suitable for contact lenses.
One in six school age children have visual problems that go undiagnosed. Uncorrected visual problems in children can affect learning and may lead to permanent visual problems. Rowville EyeCare encourages children to have their eyes tested regularly as this will ensure your children’s eyes can develop to their optimal potential.
Health Fund Rebates
If you have optical cover with your private health insurance policy, you can use it at Rowville EyeCare towards your prescription spectacles or contact lenses. Come in and find out about our instant claiming through Hi-Caps. We accept all health funds.
As primary health care practitioners, optometrists are in the best position to detect and treat ocular problems because of their extensive training and the availability of diagnostic equipment. From 1 January 2008, therapeutically endorsed optometrists can prescribe a range of eye medication under the PBS scheme. Referrals to an ophthalmologist (a doctor specialising in eye diseases) are arranged when indicated.
Traditionally, optometrists have been known for their expertise in “prescribing glasses”. Vision correction by spectacles is still a major part of an optometrist’s job. We aim to enable you to achieve your clearest and most comfortable vision. At Rowville EyeCare, we offer a wide range of frames from designer brands to affordable styles in store. High quality single vision lenses, bifocals, multifocal lenses and special purpose spectacle lenses are also available.
Diabetic & Glaucoma Eye Testing
The health of your eyes is what we value the most. During a routine eye examination, we check your eyes for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and other eye diseases. If you have a history of diabetes or family members who suffer from certain eye diseases, please inform the optometrist to arrange for specific testing. We also have equipment for visual field testing.
Want clear vision without daytime contacts or glasses or surgery? Orthokeratology is a therapy that offers these benefits. At Rowville Eyecare, we have been offering this therapy to many of our patients who have been enjoying these benefits. Orthokeratology is a therapeutic contact lens that gently and safely reshapes the cornea while you sleep to correct nearsightedness (myopia), and mild amounts of longsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. OrthoKeratology offers a safe, non-invasive, non-surgical procedure that temporarily corrects your vision while you sleep. Book an appointment to see if you are suitable for this therapy.
Technology is changing the face of optometry. At Rowville EyeCare we have embraced the advantages that technology has to offer. Equipped with the latest in digital imaging, we can now take images of various structures of the eye, from the front of your eyes (cornea) to the back of your eyes (the retina). This greatly assists in early detection of eye disease and also for the monitoring of your eye health.
We also have equipment for mapping the shape of the front of your eye (corneal topography) and for measuring the thickness of your cornea (pachymetry). Together with computerised visual field testing (perimetry), many eye diseases can be detected as early as possible to optimise the benefit of treatment.
