Understanding Eye Care Coverage
Rowville Eyecare is a Private Billing practice, where you will be charged an examination fee. Once your payment has been received, the receipt will be sent to Medicare and your rebate will be paid into your nominated account. New patients who carry a Pension or a Health Care card will be charged for the 1st appointment. Subsequent appointments will be Bulk Billed.
Medicare does not fully cover the time our Optometrist takes with each patient, so for Bulk Billed patients we ask for a co-payment of $5.00. (our eye examinations takes between 30 to 45 minutes)
Saturday appointments incur a $5.00 surcharge and are not Bulk Billed.
Private health funds in Australia are independent insurance providers that offer additional health coverage beyond what Medicare provides. These funds allow members to choose their health provider, often covering more services or offering additional benefits like shorter waiting times and private hospital care. Coverage can vary widely between different funds and levels of coverage.
No, they don’t. In Australia, Medicare covers a portion of an eye examination. Your health fund may cover additional out of pocket tests such as Optos or OCT. You will need to discuss this with your health fund.out-of-pocket
